Welcome toPlay of the Week, where each week, a new play is performed live in front of a studio audience here in Cornley and broadcast to the nation. I am the Society's Head Righter and tonight we shall be performing The Goes Wrong ORG!
I apologise once more for the dreadful mixups which seemed to plague us over the past few days. Mercifully, the Background Juror put an end to all of that, so we can all pretend that Episode 1 never happened, reset to our starting positions, trust that our very best people are working on fixing the Board itself as soon as they possibly can, and meanwhile we can move forward with Episode 2: The Premiere (Not The Premiere). Er, it's not the premiere episode, it's an episode about a premiere. So I suppose it is technically a premiere episode, though it is not the premiere episode, although it is called The Premiere. So, now everything's clear on that front, let me speak more generally.
The Goes Wrong ORG is based around a wondrous phenomenon known as the 'Online Reality Game' - perhaps some of you have heard of it? By the end of it, one of you shall be able to claim that you are The Greatest Actor in Cornley, and have at least some evidence to back it up. The BBC email entrusting this tiny corner of the taxpayer-funded budget to our capable team states that "We committed to more interactive programming than we can afford to produce so go get a free forum and a cast terrible enough to work for free, make sure to get cancelled after exactly fourteen whole episodes AND DON'T YOU DARE F@$# IT UP LIKE USUAL YOU DIMWITS!" Err... I mean to say, ummm-
Ahhhem. Well. I can't seem to find it in my notes right now but I promise there was in fact more than one email from the BBC, and one of them did say that The Goes Wrong ORG is the ultimate social, strategic and improvisational challenge. Or something like that, I think.Nineteen Eighteen Twenty-One Twenty great Actors (and less great Actors also, so don't feel left out) all forced by the BBC legal department to work together, reshaping their own warped ideas of cast politics and 'fun' as they learn to adapt, and adapt again, and perhaps get voted out a time or three. In the end only three will remain, but also only one will remain - the emails are somewhat contradictory on the matter, so I suppose we'll all find that out together, eventually. Along the way this Game will test you on multiple fronts, most of which have to do with the online interface before you.
And it shall test our Crew members very slightly also. But never fear! As with all of our works, the Cornley Polytechnic Amateur Dramatic Society has spent an entire afternoon researching how to run a virtual game of Survivor, and feel prepared for every eventuality. We've already made all the mistakes we plan to make so with all that nonsense now out of our system, we are confident that nothing else should ever go Wrong from here...
But just in case anything does, here are some things you ought to know.

The Goes Wrong ORG is intended to follow the tried and tested Survivor format. Critical failures which really ought to be avoided might, occasionally land us on a more hybidised path though, one might say. There could be a Challenge to play in most rounds, some Decisions to make and some Votes to cast. But then again, we're still wrapping our heads around the plans for the next few rounds, so there also might not always be all of those things. And thus... it's probably best to check back here at the start of each round, just to be sure. We'll be running a full technical runthrough and proofessional safety check before starting each new Episode, and promise that you'll know exactly what the format is looking like at the start of every Episode. At least for the duration of that Episode.
Many of you will soon be disappointed to discover that you are actually only Sub-Actors, the 'losers' of our noble profession doomed to watch from the sidelines while the professionals continue to perform without you. Usually being voted out by your acting troupe is enough to land you in that bracket, but if this does happen to you we ask that you await confirmation from the Crew before giving up all hope. For there is a small chance that our inscrutable schedule of performances may sometimes require more Actors than we have left in the cast, which would force us to overturn an elimination or even temporarily recast a Sub-Actor. It sounds unfair, but it's show business not a meritocracy, and our show frequently needs more business, and more merit.
Beyond a certain point, those of you eliminated from the Game will discover that a cruel clause in your contracts has been triggered and turned you into something worse than even the Sub-Actors - you will be doomed to actively watch from the sidelines and pretend to yourself that you continue to participate in the industry, as: Critics. (It's okay, take a moment to shudder appropriately, I'll wait.) Once we have a full Mob of Critics (shudder again), they will vote to determine the winner of The Goes Wrong ORG from among the finalist Actors, in a sordid and ceremonial task that none of us shall enjoy but which all of us shall pretend has given us profound fulfillment. Again, show business.

We're going to be frank with you and admit that the schedule for this Game has already been shot to pieces, and we've essentially given up on it. Scraping togethera group of rogues from the very bottom of the worst barrels worldwide so diverse a cast who all still (contractually) need to sleep whenever they get the chance between auditions and rejections, means that every aspect of The Goes Wrong ORG will be played non-live. This means that you will have a window of time to complete all Challenges, cast all Votes, and submit all other Decisions. The deadlines for these tasks will swing back and forth between the evening hours for Australians, Europeans and Americans alike, in a manner as even as possible overall, for the next five weeks.

Every Episode will last for at least 32 hours from start to finish. However there may be some smaller deadlines within these rounds - for instance a Challenge might be due before the Votes are. We'll always try to give you at least 24 hours to get Challenges done so that everyone can carve out the part of their day that works best for them, but smaller Decisions may have shorter time windows. As a general rule, if you check into this board at least once every 12 hours and can afford to make a good few posts once a day, you won't miss anything new in the way of deadlines. When possible we'll even be giving you Challenges and other things to do in advance, so that we can announce their results at the start of the Episode they're relevant to, rather than right before the end. And in some cases we'll be able to adjust to your preferences for things to move faster, or slower.
Just like a professional theater company (which we are! we just don't pay you like one) we'll keep a log of all the times that things are due. 'Board Time' is set to AEDT which is the time in Melbourne, Australia because we stole the template for this wonderful board from the Fantasma ORG series and don't know how to change it. You can find our clock on the side of the the quick reply box header at the bottom of this thread, and also virtually every other thread. When we give round deadlines we'll try to give them to you in GMT (London) and EST (New York) time as well but it will be up to you to keep track of things. We recommend going to this timeanddate.com template, typing your own location into the 'add location' box and then bookmarking the site. You can then return there at any point, enter the time in any timezone to match the deadline given, and see every other timezone automatically converted for you, including your local one.
