Indiana, '76. I'd found myself in the toughest jail in the Midwest.
My name is Billy Wheeler, and I've been inside for six months, stuck staring at a locked door. Every day is full of uncertainty. Folks went missing in this prison. They were here one day and gone the next.
The only thing I knew for sure was there was no way out. I'd spend the rest of my life behind these bars...

Good evening, and welcome back to Play Of The Week, where each week, a new play is performed live in front of a studio audience and broadcast to the nation. I am-
Stu Malone. I'd heard that before.
No, no! That's not right. I'm the Head Righter, and I am responsible for tonight's choice of play, because enough of our sets are barred that it should be impossible for us to suddenly misplace half of our cast, again.
Before we begin tonight's prison break play, one small notice. In order to comply with the BBC's anti-knife crime policy, all knives in tonight's play have been replaced with spoons. Also, after recently losing a number of
And right then and there, Lucy as Olivia died in my arms.
Not now! Er... Oh, thank you... I have a message here from Robert. He would like to apologise in advance for Lucy's subpar performance.
Well, that's just mean. I ought to punish that with-
We shook hands. I knew we were going to be good friends.
Um. Okay. Shake hands and make then, shall we?
That may be necessary for all of you, I'm afraid, in the Episode ahead. Because with our entire cast incarcerated, we've had to take some liberties with the Format and resign ourselves to just, well... no longer playing Survivor. I'm sure this will come as a shock to you all, and I hope you are not too disappointed. But there will be There will no mysterious Challenge for you all to flub, and no confusing Votes to cast.
Instead, this Episode will come down to three simple things:
You will either Escape the prison.
Or you will Survive the prison.
Or you will Die in the prison.
Or you will Survive the prison.
Or you will Die in the prison.
Not that I'd count on any of you Escaping, necessarily-
We looked up at the sky. At last, we were free.
Fine. Okay. You've got me. The Escape? is inevitable, for some of you.
In the first part of this Episode, four of you will earn the chance to Escape. Via a game that is called, quite appropriately, 'The Escape?' It will be played across the next 38 hours, and may feel a little bit like the strange Food Web thingamajig that Attenborough apparently subjected you to? F$*£^%g hippie. Because it will combine a separate, lengthy, ruleset with logical deductions and various benefits and risks in trying to work together.
All the Rules of The Escape? will be posted in a separate thread, which you should read through
This will end with four of you successfully Escaping the prison, and the Episode. Guaranteeing your places in what appears to be the Final Five... wow most of the cast really did do a runner, hey?
In the second part of this Episode, the two Actors remaining in the prison will compete in a head-to-head Spoonfight. In which the loser will quite literally die.
Or at least, that's our Plan A... we're currently negotiating the parameters of this duel with the BBC and exploring the outer limits of their broadcasting guidelines. So there is a small chance that we may not be able to show the entirety of the death on air. Or that we may require the services of more than two Actors as it unfolds. But a death will definitely still happen, regardless.
The details of the Spoonfight to the Death will be finalised (quite coincidentally) at the exact moment that The Escape? ends. So I'll explain it all then. For now, it shall suffice to say that you'll feel much better if you manage a successful Escape, in the first part of the Episode. Whereas the two duelists will need to 'live' on a spoon-edge, for at least a little bit longer.
TL;DR - EPISODE TWELVE
Your format is Not Survivor.
- You will be plafying in The Escape? for the next few days, ending in 38 hours' time.
- You may PM during this period, but under heavy restrictions, one-on-one and tracked, with a word limit and many words off-limits.
- At the end of The Escape? four of you will earn Safety for this Episode.
- The two remaining Actors will face one another in a one-on-one Spoonfight, which will eliminate one of them from the Game.
So, the actors are prepared, the stage is set. Please enjoy this play - there is no escape. Er, that's the title of the play, I'm not saying there's no escape from the studio. Although the fire exits are locked and the Actors are in fact trapped for good. Unless they die. Enjoy.
